These images were compiled using free data available to the public, through GeoBC and through the Open Street Map Project. Digital Elevation data were available through the GeoBC portal and are at a resolution of 30 meters.
Methodology:
The data were collected and stored in a file geodatabase, and then clipped to a suitable area around the town of Whistler, British Columbia. The data were then projected to UTM Zone 10 and corrected to a known benchmark point. Three dimensional modeling was compiled in ESRI's ArcScene software, with attention to detail going to raster resolution for orthorectified photos. Higher resolution photos take up more CPU resources, but yield a superior image quality and more realistic 3D model. Buildings were draped over the DEM surface and extruded to a realistic height. Landscape features (in green) are again draped over the DEM surface. The images were then exported to JPEG at a resolution of 300 DPI, and further enhanced using Adobe Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS6 for visual clarity and color representation.

3D Modeling in Google Sketchup
These 3D Models were built using measurements taken from actual campus building heights. The location of these building are on the Niagara-on-the-Lake Niagara College Campus, and are referenced to each other using aerial photography and Google Earth. The buildings are then textured with pictures of the building itself.
3D Modeling with Suitability Analysis
This diagram was created in Adobe Photoshop to outline a step by step process to find a suitable site for a plant species. Weighted Suitability Analysis was performed by using a built tool in ArcMap's ModelBuilder software.
Short Hills Provincial Park Modeling
This project was built out of a need for a scientifically derived trail rating. The park was in need of a system by which they could identify what trails are suited for horses, bikers, hikers, and by what level of experience each user had. These images are just some samples of the 3D modeling process to obtain trail ratings.
