Finding suitable habitats
The goal of this project was to use the real-world problem of snails wandering near roads and find a suitable solution. These snails have a set criteria that they prefer, including breeding areas, suitable slopes they like to live on, and types of vegetation they prefer.Figure 1 shows a number of road closures to preserve the habitat for snails. Buffers are created around roads so that vegetation thinning may take place to prevent the snails from entering dangerous areas. The solution is to close roads highlighted in red to prevent the loss of snails in those areas.

Figure 2 below shows an example of the parameters that must be considered for the snails. North facing slopes less than 20 degrees are prime areas for snail habitat.
